Last Updated: August 10, 2026

Nnekkie (“Nnekkie”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information responsibly. This Privacy Policy explains the information we collect, how we use and share it, how long we retain it, and the choices and rights available to you.

This Policy applies when you use the Nnekkie mobile application, website, lodge-sharing pages, and related student accommodation services.

1. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use Nnekkie, we may collect the following information:

2. How We Use Your Information

We use personal information to:

3. Our Lawful Bases for Processing

Where applicable, we process personal information based on one or more of the following:

Where processing depends on consent, you may withdraw that consent through your device settings, the app, or by contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect processing lawfully completed before consent was withdrawn.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell or rent your personal information.

We may share limited information in the following circumstances:

5. Public Lodge Information and Sharing

Lodge information intended for public discovery—including the lodge name, general campus or area, price, photos, videos, facilities, and description—may be displayed in the app and on public lodge-sharing pages.

Students and agents can share lodge links with friends, coursemates, and potential roommates. Information displayed on a shared lodge page may be viewed by anyone who receives or accesses that link.

Exact private addresses and personal contact information should not be included in public descriptions, photos, videos, or chat messages unless you intend to disclose them.

6. Location Information

Nnekkie uses campus selection and location information to provide relevant accommodation results. Device-location access is optional and requires your permission.

You can disable location access through your device settings. Some nearby-lodge, map, or location-based features may not work correctly after permission is disabled.

Agents and approved subletters may provide a lodge address or map location when creating a listing. Location information may be used to categorise the lodge and assist with inspections or confirmed handovers.

7. Photos, Videos, and Other Content

When you upload a profile image, lodge photograph, video, or other content, you authorise Nnekkie to store, process, display, resize, and deliver that content as required to operate the platform.

You must have permission to upload the content and must not include unlawful material or disclose another person’s personal information without appropriate authority.

8. Biometric Information

If biometric authentication is available and you choose to enable it, your fingerprint, facial scan, or other biometric template is processed by your device’s operating system.

Nnekkie does not receive or store your fingerprint or facial template. We receive only the device’s confirmation that authentication succeeded or failed.

9. Notifications and Communications

With your permission, we may send notifications about messages, inspections, reservations, payments, handovers, payouts, account security, and important platform updates.

You can manage notification permissions through your device settings. Transactional or security information may still be displayed within the app.

10. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide our services, fulfil the purposes described in this Policy, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and satisfy legal, accounting, tax, or regulatory requirements.

Information retained after account deletion will be limited, restricted, or anonymised where appropriate.

11. Account Deletion

You can delete your account from the Account or Profile section of the app by selecting Delete Account and completing the confirmation process.

If you cannot access the in-app option, contact [email protected] using the email address associated with your account.

Account deletion removes or disables your account and associated information where applicable. Certain transaction, payout, dispute, security, and legal records may be retained as explained in this Policy.

12. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, loss, or destruction. These measures include encrypted network connections, access controls, authentication protections, transaction verification, and operational monitoring.

No internet, mobile, or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for protecting your password, device access, verification codes, and account credentials.

If you believe your account or personal information has been compromised, contact us immediately.

13. International Data Processing

Some service providers used by Nnekkie may process or store information outside Nigeria. Where personal information is transferred internationally, we take reasonable steps to use appropriate contractual, organisational, or legal safeguards as required by applicable law.

14. Your Privacy Rights

Subject to applicable law, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, you may have the right to:

Some rights may be limited where processing is required to complete a transaction, protect another person’s rights, prevent fraud, resolve a dispute, or comply with the law.

To exercise a privacy right, update your information through the app or email [email protected]. We may request reasonable information to verify your identity before acting on the request.

15. Children and Young Users

Nnekkie is designed primarily for university and tertiary-institution communities. Users who are not legally able to consent to the processing of their personal information should use Nnekkie only with the involvement and permission of a parent, guardian, or other authorised adult.

If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate authority, contact us so we can review and address the matter.

16. Third-Party Links and Services

Nnekkie may contain links to payment providers, maps, shared lodge pages, app stores, or other third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and we encourage you to review them before providing personal information.

17. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to our services, technology, legal obligations, or business practices.
