Terms and Conditions
Effective Date: June 1, 2026
Last Updated: August 10, 2026
Welcome to Nnekkie. These Terms and Conditions govern your access to and use of the Nnekkie mobile application, website, lodge-sharing pages, payment services, chat features, and related services.
By creating an account or using Nnekkie, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and any cancellation or refund rules shown during payment. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
1. About Nnekkie
Nnekkie is a campus accommodation marketplace that connects students with lodge agents, owners, managers, and approved student hosts. Students can discover lodges, request inspections, reserve accommodation, complete payments, communicate with agents, and confirm lodge handover through the platform.
Nnekkie does not own, operate, or act as the landlord of properties listed by independent users. We provide the technology, payment coordination, communication tools, and support needed to facilitate transactions.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to create a Nnekkie account. If you are under 18, you must use the platform with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian.
By using Nnekkie, you confirm that you have the legal capacity and authority required to accept these Terms and complete transactions through the platform.
3. User Accounts and Verification
You agree to provide accurate and current information when registering or updating your account. You are responsible for protecting your password, verification codes, and login credentials.
You must not:
- Allow another person to impersonate you or operate your account fraudulently
- Create multiple accounts to abuse promotions, payments, reservations, or reviews
- Use false identity, campus, property, bank, or contact information
- Attempt to access another user's account without permission
We may request phone, email, identity, student, property, bank-account, or other verification before allowing certain activities or processing payouts.
4. Lodge Listings
Lodge listings are created by independent agents, owners, managers, or approved student hosts. The person publishing a listing must have the legal authority and necessary permission to advertise and offer the property.
Listing information—including price, location, availability, amenities, photos, videos, rules, and property condition—must be accurate and must not mislead students.
Although Nnekkie may review or verify listings, verification does not guarantee that every detail will remain accurate or that a lodge will meet every student's personal expectations. Students should review the listing carefully, communicate through the app, and use the inspection option where appropriate.
5. Student Subletting
A student may list an eligible space only when the student has permission to do so. Students must not sublet a hostel room, apartment, or other accommodation where this is prohibited by a tenancy agreement, hostel rule, landlord, school authority, or applicable law.
Nnekkie may request proof of permission and may remove a subletting listing where the student's authority cannot be confirmed.
6. Inspection Payments
The Inspect Lodge option allows a student to request an inspection before reserving or fully paying for a lodge.
- The student pays the displayed inspection fee and applicable platform fee.
- An inspection payment by itself does not reserve or remove the lodge from the market.
- The agent is responsible for arranging and completing the inspection.
- The student must confirm inspection completion only after the inspection has taken place.
- After valid confirmation, the inspection fee becomes eligible for payment to the agent. Nnekkie retains the disclosed platform fee.
Inspection fees may be non-refundable after the inspection has been arranged or completed, except where the service was not provided, the lodge was materially misrepresented, a duplicate payment occurred, or a refund is otherwise required by law.
7. Reservation and Payment Options
Nnekkie may present the following payment options, depending on the lodge and its availability:
Inspect Lodge
The student pays for an inspection without reserving the lodge.
Reserve Lodge
The student pays the displayed reservation amount, generally calculated as 20% of the combined lodge price and applicable agent or managerial fee, together with the inspection fee and platform fee shown at checkout.
A successful reservation temporarily locks the lodge for the student for three days. The student must complete the outstanding payment within this period. Other students may be allowed to join a waitlist while the reservation remains active.
Complete Payment
The student pays the full displayed lodge price, applicable agent or managerial fee, inspection fee, and platform fee in a single transaction. This option proceeds directly toward payment completion and lodge handover rather than using the three-day reservation window.
The complete price breakdown will be displayed before the student authorises payment. Users are responsible for reviewing the lodge, amount, recipient, and payment option before proceeding.
8. Payment Processing
Payments are processed through available third-party payment providers, including Paystack. Nnekkie does not directly store complete card details.
A payment is considered successful only after it has been verified by Nnekkie and the payment provider. A bank debit, payment screenshot, alert, or receipt alone does not override the verified transaction status recorded by the platform.
Duplicate, reversed, pending, disputed, or unsuccessful payments may require reconciliation with the payment provider before the reservation, refund, or payout can be completed.
9. Lodge Handover and Completion
After the required payment has been completed, the student and agent should arrange the lodge handover through Nnekkie's chat or reservation tools.
The student must confirm lodge handover only after the lodge, keys, or agreed access has actually been provided. Confirmation indicates that the accommodation has been handed over and may trigger the agent's eligible payout.
Students and agents must not submit false inspection, payment, or handover confirmations.
10. Agent Payouts
Eligible agent payouts are processed automatically after the required payment, inspection, or handover conditions have been satisfied.
If an automatic bank payout fails, the eligible amount may appear in the agent's wallet as a failed or withdrawable balance. The Withdraw to Bank option will be available only where an eligible balance requires manual withdrawal.
Nnekkie may temporarily hold or review a payout where:
- The payment has not been verified
- A refund, dispute, chargeback, or duplicate transaction is being investigated
- The agent's bank or identity information is incomplete or incorrect
- Fraud, misrepresentation, or account compromise is suspected
- A legal or regulatory obligation requires the payout to be delayed
11. Reservation Expiry and Refunds
If the student does not complete the outstanding payment within the three-day reservation period:
- The reservation may be cancelled automatically
- The lodge may be released for other students
- The reservation-related amount may be refunded
- The disclosed platform fee and inspection fee may be retained where the related services have already been provided or incurred
Where applicable, refunds will be returned through the original payment method or credited to the student's wallet. Processing time may depend on the payment provider or financial institution.
Refund requests involving unavailable lodges, material misrepresentation, duplicate payments, failed services, or completed payments will be reviewed according to the transaction status, services already provided, evidence supplied, and applicable law.
Users must not initiate a dishonest chargeback or payment dispute after receiving an inspection, lodge handover, refund, or other paid service.
12. Agent and Lodge Owner Responsibilities
Agents, owners, managers, and student hosts agree to:
- List only properties they are authorised to offer
- Keep prices, availability, media, amenities, and location information accurate
- Respond reasonably to inspections, reservations, payments, and handover requests
- Not collect unauthorised or undisclosed charges from students
- Provide accurate identity, contact, and bank-account information
- Comply with applicable property, tenancy, safety, tax, and consumer-protection requirements
- Immediately update or remove a lodge that is no longer available
13. Student Responsibilities
Students agree to:
- Review lodge information and payment details carefully
- Use the correct inspection, reservation, or complete-payment option
- Complete outstanding reservation payments before the displayed deadline
- Communicate respectfully with agents and other users
- Confirm inspections and handovers only after they have occurred
- Follow lawful lodge, tenancy, campus, and property rules
- Report suspected fraud or listing misrepresentation promptly
14. Chat and User Communication
Nnekkie's chat feature is provided to help students and agents discuss inspections, reservations, payment completion, and handover. Users must not use chat to harass, threaten, deceive, distribute illegal material, or request payment intended to bypass Nnekkie's payment protections.
Users should keep important transaction communication within the platform so that it can be reviewed where a dispute or support request arises.
15. Public Lodge Sharing
Lodge listings may be shared through public web links and third-party applications. Public lodge pages may display listing information such as lodge name, campus, general location, price, photos, videos, amenities, and availability.
Exact private addresses and users' private contact information should not be disclosed publicly unless necessary and authorised for a confirmed transaction.
16. User Content and Intellectual Property
Users retain ownership of the photos, videos, descriptions, reviews, and other content they upload. By uploading content, you grant Nnekkie a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce, format, and share that content for operating, promoting, and improving the platform.
You must have permission to upload all content you provide. You must not upload copyrighted, private, defamatory, deceptive, illegal, or harmful material.
The Nnekkie name, logo, application design, software, and original platform content remain the property of Nnekkie and may not be copied or commercially exploited without permission.
17. Prohibited Conduct
Users must not:
- Create false, misleading, duplicated, or fraudulent lodge listings
- Manipulate prices, reservations, confirmations, reviews, refunds, wallets, or payouts
- Attempt to pay or receive payment outside the platform to avoid disclosed fees or safeguards
- Harass, threaten, discriminate against, impersonate, or defraud another person
- Upload malware or attempt to interfere with the platform's operation
- Scrape, copy, reverse-engineer, or commercially exploit the platform without permission
- Use Nnekkie for unlawful accommodation, financial, or promotional activities
18. Account Suspension and Termination
Nnekkie may restrict, suspend, or terminate an account or listing where these Terms are violated, fraud or safety risks are identified, verification fails, payments are disputed dishonestly, or action is required by law.
Where appropriate, we may allow the user to provide information or appeal a decision. Account suspension does not remove legitimate payment, refund, payout, tax, dispute, or legal obligations.
19. Account Deletion
Users may request account deletion through the available account settings or by contacting [email protected] from their registered email address.
We may retain limited transaction, payment, fraud-prevention, dispute, tax, safety, or legal records after deletion where necessary or required by law. Please refer to our Account Deletion page and Privacy Policy for further details.
20. Privacy
Our collection and handling of personal information are described in the Nnekkie Privacy Policy. By using the platform, you acknowledge that your information may be processed as necessary to provide accounts, listings, payments, reservations, chat, notifications, fraud prevention, support, and related services.
21. Third-Party Services
Nnekkie may rely on third-party services for payments, maps, authentication, notifications, media, analytics, and app distribution. Those providers may have their own terms and privacy policies.
We are not responsible for delays or interruptions caused solely by a user's bank, payment provider, mobile network, device, app store, or another independent third-party service. We will, however, take reasonable steps to investigate platform-related transaction issues.
22. Platform Availability
We aim to keep Nnekkie available and reliable, but uninterrupted access cannot be guaranteed. Features may occasionally be unavailable because of maintenance, security updates, network failure, payment-provider interruption, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
23. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
Nnekkie provides a marketplace and transaction platform and is not the landlord, tenant, caretaker, or physical operator of independently listed properties.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Nnekkie will not be responsible for indirect or unforeseeable losses arising from a user's conduct, inaccurate information supplied by an independent listing provider, or events outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability arising from fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, personal injury caused by negligence, or rights protected under applicable consumer law.
24. Changes to the Platform or These Terms
We may update the platform, its fees, payment flows, or these Terms to reflect operational, legal, security, or service changes. Material changes will be communicated through the app, website, email, or another reasonable channel.
Your continued use of Nnekkie after updated Terms take effect means that you accept the revised Terms.
25. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
If a dispute occurs, please contact Nnekkie first so that we can investigate and attempt to resolve it. If the dispute cannot be resolved informally, either party may pursue available remedies before a court or authority with proper jurisdiction in Nigeria.
